Operations Manager

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage production function, headcount planning, and cost reduction activities.
  • Manage process engineering function and projects.
  • Manage the department maintenance function.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Quality Systems Management.
  • Ensures changes in the quality management system are communicated within their area of responsibility and that associates are appropriately trained as necessary. 
  • Provide leadership to department in the form of coaching, corrective action, accountability.
  • Provides the necessary resources to production associates in terms of training, shift scheduling, and performing and verifying work.
  • Ensures the flow of communication between all departments involved in production. 
  • Ensures business plan quality objectives are being met. 
  • Ensures results of internal and external audits are evaluated for compliance requirements. 
  • Responsible for providing specific performance data in accordance with MMR Database.
  • Managers' report on the performance of key indicators relevant to the manufacturing process.
  • Quality objectives are strategically defined, measured and monitored as part of the financial planning process. 
  • Submits business plan based on sales forecasts.
  • Documents the countermeasures of quality including the person/area responsible as well as implements corrective action when necessary.
  • Preventive actions are implemented as applicable after the potential for non-conformity has been identified. 
  • Ensures proper containment procedures are followed.
  • Review and approves product/process qualification summary report. 
  • Oversees manufacturing processes and controls are carried out in accordance with the applicable instructions that are readily accessible. 
  • Assign responsibility for carrying out the planned manufacturing processes. 
  • Conduct daily production meetings with Supervisors, QC, Engineering, Support Supervisors, Production Control to discuss operational concerns from each shift.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 10 years experience in manufacturing.
  • Four year technical degree preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of plant operations.
  • Knowledge and experience relating to P.M., area maintenance and personal computers.
  • Some knowledge relating to safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to lead improvement programs such as Kaizen and team building in the manufacturing and maintenance areas.
