Payroll Specialist

Payroll team member responsible for timely and accurate payroll processing for associates in multiple pay groups. Works to efficiently utilize the Ultimate Software Suite for timekeeping and payroll activities while upholding confidentiality and providing exceptional customer service.    Works collaboratively with team members to resolve issues and implement process improvements in a deadline driven environment, while demonstrating precision and productivity.    

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Processing payroll in a fast-paced, high volume environment
  • Coordination, review, preparation and verification of payroll related source documents, to include electronic time records, earnings, deductions and garnishment files for final payroll output
  • Processing payroll on a weekly, semi-monthly and monthly schedule dependent on the pay group
  • Preparing, generating and reviewing various payroll-related reports as required
  • Providing payroll guidance, assistance and support to site locations as required
  • Corresponding with federal, state and local tax agencies on behalf of the company
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks

Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)

Two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Requires strong organizational skills, good computer skills with Microsoft Excel experience, strong analytical skills, teamwork, and good communication. Strong background in HRIS - Ultimate Software experience preferred and payroll reporting experience.  FPC – Fundamental Payroll Certification from the American Payroll Association preferred by not required.

  • Ability to calculate amounts such as gross and net pay and payroll deductions. 
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.  Able to write correspondences. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, inside and outside of the organization.
