Quality Manager

The Quality Manager is responsible for the following duties:

  • Establishes and implements company policies and practices.
  • Establishes/equips necessary support areas, e.g. Quality Assurance laboratory, tool inspection, gage control, machining hard gauging and CMMs, assembly audit tools, etc.
  • Inspection, measurement and test activities including Metallurgist Services.
  • Ensures all TS16949 requirements and customer specific requirements are strictly adhered to.
  • Planning and Maintenance of Quality Assurance programs directly associated with TS16949 compliance.
  • Interfaces directly with current and future customers regarding quality issues including corrective action responses.
  • Develops/implements plans to ensure quality levels are maintained at world class levels.
  • Coordination new product/process introduction for quality related activities.
  • Coordination of PPAP submissions to customers.
  • Coordinate quality related activity for Run at Rates.
  • Interfaces directly with component and material suppliers, driving continuous improvement and compliance with TS16949.
  • Monitors plant management review activities, with emphasis on driving built in quality and the Continuous Improvement Program.
  • Serves as the management representative for coordination of the TS16949 Program, including 3rd party periodic audits.
  • Coordinate internal audit activity as TS16949.
  • Facilitate PFMEA review process.
  • Maintain quality elements of the Akebono Change Management System.
  • Facilitates management weekly matrix meetings.
  • APS Quality Champion for plant.
  • Key company representative for customer quality related visits.
  • Update and maintain Quality KPI data and information.
  • Monitor customer scoreboard performance/satisfaction and establish improvement plans if required.
  • Coordinate any special builds, such as prototype that require quality data and control.
  • Communicate/present quality performance/information at “All Team Meetings”.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Special projects as deemed by the Plant Manager

JOB SKILLS DESIRED:      

  • BS or BA in a technical field of study (if the degree is in a non-technical area, relevant technical work experience may be considered with the non-technical degree).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years automotive component supplier work experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience supervising individuals.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Quality Management Certification Process. (i.e. TS16949).
  • Excellent customer complaint handling skills and communication skills.
  • Ability to stay composed under difficult situations and lead quality problem solving activities.
