Follow establishment of quality engineering disciplines during the development phases of the product to ensure meeting quality objectives.
Assist in the coordination and preparation of required inputs and outputs to ensure that customer product; material, and documentation submissions are accurate, timely, and complete.
Engineer, document, communicate, and/or implement quality deliverables as defined by internal procedures, customer requirements, and industry standards for assigned, advanced program commodities.
Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, or system. Assist in the setup of APQP status reports and monitor s APQP status for reporting issues that may directly or indirectly lead to the detriment of quality or financial performance of the assigned advanced program commodities.
Setup and manage sorts at customer locations, track costs accumulating from sorts, and initiate inhouse sorts
Document and advise Quality Manager of those situations that may pose a significant risk to program(s), product assurance, facilities and employee safety or customer satisfaction. Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through appropriate channels and verify implementation.
Have the ability to perform PPAPs submissions (level 1,2,3,4 or 5) per customer requirements. Verify that requirements expectations and workmanship are demonstrated from review of influential engineering inputs. Control further processing and delivery of nonconforming product until correction of the deficiency.
Initiate and follow up thru 8d/5 why analysis with individuals to address non conformances
Assist as needed in the approval of Supplier Part Submission documentation and corrective action plans.
Assist in the review, disposition, and document communication of discrepancies for supplier sample submissions of new or changed materials. Assist in working with Suppliers and Customers to communicate quality issues for assigned responsibilities. Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, process & systems.
Adhere to all company guidelines to ensure employee safety with the understanding of ISO 14001
Understand and complete PFMEA and Controls Plans
Quality Engineer Skills and Education Required to be considered:
Minimum 3 years in automotive manufacturing environment as Quality Engineer with experience in APQP / Customer Correspondence / Supplier Development
Work in conjunction with Program Management as part of a launch team.
Proficient in customer/supplier computer software programs such as (IMDS, Ford’s VPP, GM-GQTS, AAM, VW, etc.)
Proficient in Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio and MINTAB
Have the basic AIAG understanding and related quality system knowledge using TS 16949/ISO9001 / VDA
Demonstrate competency in metrology, blueprint reading, gage R&R studies, CMM methods / process
Agree to maintain confidentiality on products, services, and processes.
AAM/GM Supplier portal experience and AAM/GM supplier quality requirements
~ 25% travel requirements (local / extended)
Minimum 4 year degree in Quality Control or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Candidate must have strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
