Material Planner

 

Job Summary

Managing and ordering component parts per customer demand. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Order components from suppliers
  • Interact with suppliers 
  • Update and review QAD and schedules for supplier releases.
  • Work with purchasing to make sure orders are in.
  • Interface with different department.
  • Calculate supplier performance 
  • Participate in build outs
  • Cycle counts on parts.
  • Check and update supplier portals.
  • Reviews customer requirements for production.
  • Advise material manager on use of off schedule express freight.
  • Balance out engineering requirements to the piece rather than the SNP.
  • Communicates with customer when requirements cannot be met. 
  • Implement schedule report from QAD to prepare packing slips for customer's shipments.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Previous scheduling/planning experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • In depth understanding of ERP software and hardware tools (QAD preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient with a PC including MRP / ERP software, Microsoft Excel for spreadsheet and graphing, and Microsoft PowerPoint for development of presentations. QAD experience is a plus.
  • Ability to function effectively in a dynamic work environment.
  • Highly self-motivated with focus on continuous improvement of performance and processes.
